Plan Your Visit

Covid-19 UPDATE: Given Government confirmation that Garden Centres may now open, we have decided to open our gates – but for Collection Orders ONLY. The Nursery & Gardens are not open at this time.

However, if you make a Collection Order, this will include a COMPLIMENTARY visit to Marchants gardens. Minimum Collection Order value of £40.00 applies. Date/time slots are by arrangement only.

These are early days in the Covid-19 Pandemic. Our health is as important as yours – we all need to tread with great caution. We will continue to follow Government updates, and will review our position again in early June. In the meantime we hope you find some much needed gardening tranquillity in the current crisis, and look forward to seeing you again soon at our beautiful nursery and garden.

We are located 7 miles East of Lewes and 5 miles West of the Market town of Hailsham in the small village of Laughton. The A23/A27 junction is 13 miles distant.

The Nursery is situated 300m south off the B2124 in Mill Lane which is approximately a 1/2 mile East of the Roebuck Inn located in Laughton village centre.

Important Notice for Sat Nav Users:

Many customers using Sat Nav systems experience problems trying to find us. As proof, our own system fails to bring us home but fortunately we know the way!

As our Postcode (BN8 6AJ) commonly fails to work, you could try the postcode for the centre of LAUGHTON village which is BN8 6BG. Combining this with a Road Map or our printable map below should get you here safely.

Parking & Accessibility

There is on site parking for up to 7 cars, there is also limited space on nearby road lay-bys.  Please note that Marchants is located on a small but often quite busy country road.

It is possible to park one coach by prior arrangement.  Please phone us to confirm.

The Gardens and Nursery are situated on a gentle, south-facing slope. There is reasonable accessibility in and around the gardens, however our paths are mostly gravel or grass, they are uneven in places and can become unsuitable for wheelchair users during wet weather.

There are some steps that can be bypassed if necessary. There are also a number of seats in the garden on which to rest weary legs!

On our heavy clay soil we occasionally have to limit access in the garden, particularly in the early part of the year and in very wet weather.

Our WC facilities are limited and we can cater for emergency needs only! Regrettably the WC is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Visitors arriving by coach from a distance are therefore requested to use service station facilities on motorways, etc. before arriving. Coach drivers are invariably familiar with this procedure and capable of finding the nearest facilities.

Assistance and well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in both nursery and garden.

We trust the above information answers your questions. If you wish to book a group visit or require further information please contact Graham Gough by EMAIL or call 01323 811737. Alternatively use our Contact Us form below.

We very much look forward to offering you a warm welcome at Marchants!
